Logan is 4 months old!

Yes - today is the day....Logan is FOUR MONTHS OLD! The time really has flown by so fast. Our little man is growing up and learning new things each and every day. Here is his brag list:
  • 4 month pediatrician visit isn't for two weeks - but our tape measure says he is 26 inches tall/long and our scale says he is 16 pounds.
  • I am starting to retire his 3-6 month clothes and he has been wearing mostly 6-9 month size now this past week.
  • He LOVES to lay on his back and lift up his legs and hold his feet.
  • If it is in reach he LOVES to grab it...tonight it was my McDonald's soda.
  • He has rolled by him self; tummy to back. He is pretty close to doing back to tummy. He doesn't roll all the time....he gets mad when he rolls or when mommy tries to get him to roll.
  • He watches Zachary like a hawk...always interested in what big brother is doing.
  • He has slept through the night ONCE....he needs to do it again REAL soon.
  • Drinking 5 oz bottles about every four hours.
  • Still has sensitive skin - even had a bit more cradle cap show up last week.
  • Hair is thinning out and fallout out. At FOUR MONTHS OLD he is starting to kind of go bald (mostly in the back). He has about 1 inch of new growth that is coming in a light brown almost blond color...so we think he is going to end up having the same hair color as Zachary.
  • We are starting to see hints that he is going to refuse the pacifier pretty soon. Zach did this at about 4 months old as well, no complaints if he stops it on his own!
Here are some recent photos that we think are just plain adorable!

He likes to pet our cats...even manages to pull out a fist full fur every time!

There are those FEET!

First rice cereal experience - of course he wasn't a fan

But he is a fan of the bottle.....

Zach's favorite youtube video

If you are sitting anywhere in our house and Zach sees you on a computer or laptop - he runs to your lap and asks for "MEOW". This is what he wants to watch! Yes it is worth your 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

Grandma and Grandpa TWO

Jen's parents came into town for a short weekend trip. We loved having them visit. Zach can't quite pronounce the word "twogood" yet, but he can say the word "two". So the whole visit we were reminding him that this was his NANA and PAPA TWO visiting. He got the hang of it!

We can't wait for the next visit!

Kennecott Copper Mine

Did you know there is a copper mine in Utah? Kennecott Copper Mine is about a 30 minute drive from our home! We decided to pack everybody up and head out there today to see what this place was all about.

The drive there is on some back roads that were pretty deserted....no development in this area of Utah!

The we came to a cross road - our choices were to head to the Copper Mine or the landfill...we choose the Copper Mine.

Tah dah! We made it! They charge $5 per car to enter and the money is donated to charity. So basically we just paid for a little tax write off for 2010 ;)

Once you pay your $5 at the security gate and drive up the big hill to the visitors center - you are on the top of the mine. You get to look down and see the massive excavation process they have going on. They have these HUGE dump trucks driving around hauling all the material around. Of course the boys were in heaven....Zach kept saying DUMP DUMP DUMP all day long!

To give you a good idea on how big these dump trucks really were - here is a picture of the tires they use. They had a sign out in front of the tire saying they cost $25,000 each. Each dump truck uses six tires and they get replaced ONCE A YEAR! $150,000 in tires per truck every year. They had at least 50 trucks running around that we could see with our eyes, I am sure they had a bunch more elsewhere too!

They had a visitors center that showed a movie about the processing facility. We had no idea how huge an operation they really had going on out there. They do everything from the excavating all the way down to the copper sheet formation. This particular mine has been in production for almost 100 years! Inside the visitors center Zach was quick to find the dump truck stuff...

They even do blasting at the mine - we had hoped to see that going on but we weren't lucky enough to be at the facility during the 2-4 times a day they blast. Maybe next time!

On our drive out of the facility we had a family of deer jump out and cross the road in front of us. FIVE OF THEM! Only one actually made it across the road - the rest were smart and decided to wait until AFTER we passed. That one deer that did cross was lucky Dustin was the driver....he stops in time ;)

Tulip Festival 2010

It is that time of year again...the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival! It was opening weekend so only about 40% of the tulips were actually in bloom - but it was the most beautiful day we have had in a while - blue skies, 75 degrees, no breeze.

This year Jen's parents were in town during this event. They had never been to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens before so we were glad to show them around. Zach got the special treatment in the wagon. He totally looked like a tourist, check it out:

One of our favorite things to do is visit the Coy fish - we feed them :) The boys had fun getting the food and making the fish swim all around to get it!

Then Zach decided that he was going to be the one to pull the wagon...

And then Zach decided he was going to go IN the fountain at the Secret Garden (literally):

Logan loved the gardens as well....he had the Bjourn view:

Some relaxing time spent at the huge waterfall amphitheater - Zach did lots of running around:

Then snack time for everybody. Zach made it known he wanted cotton candy. Of course being the push over that he is...daddy (Dustin) bought it for him. I have never seen a kid rip into cotton candy so fast. He only made it through 1/3 of the bag and then he stopped because he hit his sugar tolerance levels. Watch him try and shove all of it in his mouth:

Towards the end of the trip Jen's dad ended up wearing Zach's hat. We thought this was pretty funny....but it kept him from getting sunburned on the head!

Family shot!

We had a great time (as always) and were happy to FINALLY be able to take Jen's parents to see the beautiful Thanksgiving Point Gardens. Our Thanksgiving Point membership was recently renewed so we will have to head back to the gardens in a week or two to see more of the blooming tulips!

And the Darwin award goes to....

....this person who was attempting to burn the weeds in their yard and caught the telephone pole on fire. They don't seem a bit concerned......probably not their first offense.

Sleep!

He did it.....at 5:30am this morning I realized that Logan had slept all night! His last feeding was at 9:30pm and he fell asleep on Dustin's belly at 10pm. He didn't wake up until 6am. Lets hope he does it again TONIGHT!!

Easter Sunday

Today was a FANTASTIC family day! The Easter Bunny did make a stop at our house last night and left some baskets for both Zach and Logan. The Easter Bunny left a trail of Hershey kisses from Zach's bed to his basket.

This was Zach's haul - lots of cars/trucks and a LITTLE bit of candy....

We had been anxiously waiting for Zach to wake up this morning to see what he would do when he saw the Hershey kiss trail. Once he woke up he came running out of his room with two unwrapped kisses, one in each hand. He was excited to show us what he had found. He didn't even realize there were about 15 more kisses and a basket full of other fun stuff for him. We had to point it all out. He would go through things one at a time and make us open up the toy and get it out of the wrapper so he could play with it. He has recently been saying the word "dump" quite a bit (in reference to a dump truck)...so he got a kick out of this toy that was in his basket:

This was Logan's haul - bath toy and cool new shirt for the summer...

Logan loved the bath toy - he even tried "tasting" it.

The Easter Bunny has some great taste...this shirt is PERFECT for Logan!

The Easter bunny also left us another gift last night....three inches of fresh snow - pure powder.

At this point Logan decided he wanted a nap...so the rest of us bundled up and went playing in the snow! First thing Dustin did is hand Zach his snow shovel.....Zach knew exactly what to do with it....we got a good chuckle out of it!

Next on the agenda was some sledding on the side of our house. I think this is the first time we were "happy" to have slight hill on the side of our house. Check out the video:

Next up was of course some snowball fighting....

We got an AWESOME picture of Zach throwing some snow towards Dustin (who had the camera):
Zach did some exploring of the yard in the snow and of course Dustin and Zach did some snow angels!

Since we are HOPING this is the LAST we see of snow until next winter....the boys decided to make a snowman....

...while Jen put the roast in the crock pot for DINNER (yum!)

The last thing we wanted to do for Easter was dye some hard boiled eggs. Since it had been a while since ANY OF US had done this we weren't sure what to expect. Next year we will have to find some "upgraded" egg dye kits. The wax crayon they gave us wasn't that good at keeping the design on the egg and the red/pink color dye didn't do a thing. BUT we still had fun (trying to keep Zach from getting covered head to toe in the dye!)

Happy Easter 2010!
