Logan - 6 month check up

We had Logan's 6 month check up with the pediatrician today. Here are his stats:

Height = 27.5 inches = 75th percentile
Weight = 18 pounds, 2 ounces = 50th percentile
Head = 44cm = 50th percentile

We walked out of our appointment with THREE PRESCRIPTIONS! Logan still has sensitive skin and the doctor we saw finally thinks it is a mild form of eczema - we needed a refill of hydrocrotizone cream for the flare ups. Logan's belly button has also been getting red the past two weeks. Jen has been cleaning it and putting on neosporin, but it just wasn't working very well - so we got a prescription for an antibiotic cream. The doctor also prescribed fluoride drops - we thought this was a bit strange because they never brought up fluoride drops with Zach when he was younger.

Two shots today. Logan didn't even flinch when he got the first injection, it wasn't until the second shot that he finally screamed. He was back to a happy baby in no time and hasn't acted like he is in any pain from them so far tonight.

Happy HALF Birthday!

Today Logan is SIX MONTHS OLD!
Yes - the last six months have flown by rather quickly. Logan is growing like a champ! He is eating jarred baby food (applesauce is his favorite right now). He is also sitting up all by himself. He tries to scoot on his tummy but hasn't really gotten anywhere. He can grab and hold onto just about anything - toys are starting to be more enjoyable! Logan has also discovered his scream -- we call him a little pterodactyl...basically because he sounds like one!

busy busy day

Today was probably the busiest Saturday we have had in a while! We started the day of heading to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point - today was "dairy days".

They had all sorts of stuff to do....butter making, chocolate milk samples, cattle roping....

cow coloring...

Ice cream making and eating...

Dad's horse racing while smacking a cow...

cow train riding...

....but most IMPORTANTLY - Zach saving Logan's toes from being licked/eaten by a baby donkey!
After our Farm adventure we headed to one of Dustin's co-workers house. They have an 18 month old son. We had a BBQ lunch and played outside for a bit. Zach loved exploring all over their house and in the garage.....apparently Zach has never seen a doggy door before....this is what he thinks they are for:

Now it was time to head inside their home and watch the USA vs. Ghana Soccer match. We had the game on the DVR and were able to "fast forward" some of the dull points....which was probably a good thing because the kids were getting restless for naps. We headed out the door once we found out USA lost in overtime. Zach and Logan both fell asleep during the drive home.

Our day was not DONE! We had a pancake and fireworks evening planned with the Krotosky's. We were able to let Zach take an two hour nap (much needed)...the headed back into the car with both kids and our pancake toppings (we were having a pancake dinner!). The Krotosky's live in Cedar Hills and this past week was the Cedar Hills Days celebration - the city had a fireworks show at 10pm that we could watch from the Krotosky's porch. Jen was a bit worried the kids wouldn't make it to 10pm for the show, since they are both normally asleep by 9pm...but the kids must have known something was up because they both stayed up until we drove home at 10:30pm!! Between dinner and the fireworks Zach had fun playing with Diego - throwing him the ball and such...

The Krotosky's had some left over sparklers from last year.....we tried to get Zach to hold 'em but he wasn't quite so sure....

Family shot at 9:55pm!

Sundays plans include NOTHING! We need to recuperate from our Saturday!

sneak peek

We have been having some "stone work" done this month. The legs to the bottom of our deck are getting an upgrade -- something we have been wanting to do since we bought this house 3.5 years ago. Here is a sneak peek at the current status. We hope it will be done in another week.

Fathers Day

Nothing better than having a nice relaxing Fathers Day! We spent some time out in the backyard...took some naps.....enjoyed dinner out at one of Dustin's favorite restaurants. Here are some highlights of our day.

The boys were decked out in "daddy gear"....

Zach was fighting a nap all day - about 1 hour before we were suppose to leave for dinner he fell asleep on Dustin. Now what Dad wouldn't love this?

The boys enjoyed helping daddy open his presents.....

Happy Fathers Day Dustin!!

Every day brings something new

Today it was this....

Zach decided to bring the outdoor front door mat inside the house. The problem is that front door mat hasn't been cleaned since before winter - so there was a good layer of dirt and dust hiding in the mat. So when he brought it in - that dirt and dust made a new home in our front entry way.

Wonder what tomorrow will bring....

Zacharina

As Jen got out of the shower this morning this is what greeted her.....

Apparently Zach was able to reach a small jewelry case on our dresser. He decided to put it all on...how can you scold a child that looks like this? Jen just laughed and ran to get the camera!

Logan's 1st haircut

Today we had an appointment to get Zach's haircut. As the lady was finishing up we decided to have her cut Logan's hair. Logan's hair needed to be evened out - plus we think he looks good with his little faux-hawk.

Here is Logan - all ready to get started. He was excited to sit in the "car" and hold a steering wheel all by himself!

Here is big brother Zach showing Logan his new hair cut.

Logan did really good - the only part he was crying/whining about was clippers around his ears. The rest of the time he was all smiles!

Now doesn't that LOOK BETTER?! This same stylist was the lady that gave Zach his first haircut when he was 9 months old. Every time we go in there she REMEMBERS Zach!

Daddy and his boy!

Baby picture of Jen

Check this out...Jen was cleaning out some things and came across this picture of her when she was 11 months old. Now which one of our kids do you think looks like this?!?!?!

Comparison

We thought this was interesting......pictures of when Zach was 5 months old and Logan at 5 months old....they look SO DIFFERENT!!

(ironically they are wearing the same shirt in the picture....that was not planned!)

Cabela's

Since we live so close to Cabela's - we make frequent trips there just to look around. The kids love looking at the fish and all the animals. We went for a road trip this afternoon and Zach was very sad when we exited the freeway to head back to our home. He didn't want to go home yet...so we just headed to Cabela's to kill some more time. Here are some snapshots of our cute kids being cute:

Dustin and Zach feeding the fish
Zach found some "candy" he wanted....we got suckered...
Logan's first cart ride. He liked it....but he did look like a midget in the Cabela's cart.

Dustin's day of celebration!

Today is Dustin's birthday! Wahooooooo! We like to party it up in the grAy hOUsE. Normally we would take the day off work - but since we had Monday off for Memorial day and Jen is currently only working mornings on Tuesdays....we just decided to make it a short work day. Dustin was at work long enough to go out to lunch with his co-workers and enjoy some birthday cake delivered by Jen. Costco cakes are yummy - where else can you get something that is cheap, tastes good and will put you in a diabetic coma in only one serving?!

Following work Dustin headed home to a house with TWO kiddos asleep....so we decided to take naps also! It may have only been for a hour - but dang, naps are soooooooooo GOOD! Once we all woke up it was time to head down to Provo for some all you can eat Brazilian grill for dinner - Dustin's all time favorite plus his meal was FREE because it was his birthday! Glen joined us and the kids for the dinner time celebration! We find the kids behave better at dinner when Grandpa is around.

Zach LOVED having tongs as a utensil (you are suppose to use them to grab the meat when they bring it to your table) - he would grab some food, put the closed tong in his mouth and then open the tong in his mouth. The food from his mouth would then proceed to fall on the floor. After a while he gave up and started using his hands.

Logan decided he was going to try wild tiger for dinner.

Couple shot!

Zach being goofy with mom....

After dinner they had a water fountain display outside the restaurant. Zach kept saying he wanted to go see the water....so we did. We had an extra change of clothes in the car so we let him go wild and get wet. Dustin of course may have ENSURED Zach got wet - but they loved every minute of it!

Back home we got ready to open presents. Thanks to our handy cameraman Glen - we have a family shot!! Look at Logan - he is even looking at the camera! Zach just wanted to open the presents.

I don't think Dustin got to open a single one of his presents - Zach opened them all..including the cards!

Zach thought the shirt Dustin got with the trucks on it was pretty cool.

Now cake time (actually it was a pie this year!). We had been working on singing the "Happy Birthday" song with Zach - so of course we sang the song and blew out the candle about three times total. It was Logan's first candle and as you can see by the picture he was REALLY interested in it.....

We were so focused on Zach - making sure he didn't touch the pie or put his fingers in it...we didn't pay attention to what Logan's intentions were.....

Yes - that is Logan's hand in the pie! The funny part is that Zach has his hand on top of Logan's - he was saying "no no no baby!". Zach of course had a BLAST getting Logan cleaned up. We think Logan enjoyed it too!

Happy 35th Birthday to the best HUSBAND, FATHER and FRIEND ever!
