Kindergarten

We have Kindergartner, yes, we have a KINDERGARTNER!  Last week we were able to go visit the class room at Challenger that Zach will be in this school year and meet his teachers.

Zach was super excited.  We walked around the school and showed him where he would be dropped off and picked up and where he would eat lunch.  He got to meet his teachers and see all the fun stuff in his room.  So, today was the day......he started KINDERGARTEN!

A sign your kids are up to no good

Zach comes running into our room today and says....."Mom we did something REALLY BAD!"

Apparently Zach and Logan were taking turns hanging on the towel rack in the upstairs bathroom.  Since Zach is about 8 pounds heavier than Logan....he was the one hanging on it when it finally decided to rip out of the wall.  Good thing we have a handyman in the house....

Soccer GOAL!

We enrolled Zach in the city's kindergarten August soccer program.  It is basically kindergarten boys playing games twice a week for a month.  They really emphasize 'fun'....so much so there are no referee's in the games (the coaches act as them) and they don't keep a formal score (although every parent on our team keeps a mental score).  We are just over half way done with this program and in today's game....Zach scored his FIRST GOAL!

Jen was able to catch it all on her camera - sports mode rapid shot....

We LOVE this one...Zach realized he just got his first goal!

Giving thumbs up to dad on the sidelines...

It was wonderful to see Zach get excited about getting a goal.  It has been a rough couple of games....he kept saying it was 'too hard' to get a goal....we told him it didn't matter if he got a goal, we wanted him to have fun and help his team mates out.  Now after getting his first goal, Zach feels more empowered and is even MORE EXCITED to play his next soccer game!

We took some team pictures today with our own cameras as well - the team named themselves the "sharks".

IM Flash at Cowabunga Bay

IM Flash Technologies did it AGAIN!  They hosted another fabulous Family day event at Cowabunga Bay.  Remember last year?  Our kids wouldn't stop talking about it...literally for a full YEAR it is what they talked about when we drove past this place on the freeway!

Jen started off the night right with a 15 minute chair massage!

Logan was all for the water slides...he didn't need any adult to go with him!

This is Zach's version of getting his own back massage...

The boys hanging out in the pool next to the lazy river...they called it the 'hot tub'

I think the BIGGEST thrill of the night was UNLIMITED ice cream from the Schwan's truck!

The kids had to pose with this old car.....they kept asking if they could get inside and go for a drive!

We had a great time!  When we were walking back to the car - Zach said, "Mom, this was the best day ever.  I can't wait to come back next year."  Logan said, "Can we get a truck like this (referring to the ice cream truck) for our house?"

Cool car day at work

Dustin got invited to park ThunderPig in the front row of work today for the 'cool car day'.  There is one individual that knows all the people at work with 'classics' and gets everyone together like this a few times a year.  So of course Dustin and the boys had to go for a ride and the polish up ThunderPig the night before...

Here is ThunderPig...

Shot from on top of the building....see all eight of the cars front and center?

Apparently we don't get ThunderPig out enough at work.  Jen got questions all day long from co-workers asking if that was ThunderPig and what the special occasion was for all the classic cars...she just responded with "it is cool car day!".

Back to Utah

Before heading out of California we took the kids to the movies to see Turbo...then went to lunch with Jen's parents.  At the end of the meal the waitress brought us all warm washcloths for our hands.  Zach was cold in the restaurant so he promptly put the warm washcloth on his face - he was in heaven.

It was quite smokey heading through the Sierra Nevada's.....something was burning.

Both Zach and Logan fell asleep shortly after we left and slept pretty much the whole drive to Winnemuca.

The beautiful scenery on day #1 of the trip back to Utah...

The boys HAD to hit up the hotel pool and hot tub...

Dustin decided to play a prank on the hotel housekeeping staff before we left....he built that 'mummy' out of towels from the room.

One day#2 back to Utah we made good use out of the double stuffed Oreos grandma Twogood packed for us!

We are close...see the salt flats?!

The kids did good on this road trip...just supply them with lots of snacks and non-stop movies and we probably could have driven for days.  Where to next?

Whirlwind day in N. Cali

Today was our 'whirlwind' day of activities that involved 57+71+61+113 = 302 miles of driving!  We kicked it of by heading from Jen's parents house in Roseville to Fairfield to tour the Jelly Belly Factory.  Zach asked us every day of this trip if it was the day we were going to see the Jelly Belly's....we were finally able to say YES!!

Here is our group shot as we started the tour.  We have the same picture from 3.5 years ago when we last visited the Jelly Belly Factory - Logan was only 3 month old during that trip!

After the tour the kids each got to pick out one thing to buy and eat (they gave us PLENTY of jelly belly samples).  Both Zach and Logan walked up and down all the aisle of goodies and both finally decided on huge gummy rats!

Yes, they did devour those yummy rats!  After we ate our packed lunches we headed off to Dillon's Beach.  It was a bit chilly - in the 70s, but that didn't stop us from having a couple of hours of Northern California Beach time.

The drive was beautiful...

 Our stop!

Dustin - catching a wave...

The boys had fun finding the stuff that washed up on the beach.

Garrett dug a big hole and the kids used it to make a 'castle'.

Grandpa Twogood!

The kids were going to town trying to dig that hole deeper and deeper....

After about an hour, Zach decided he was done.  He wanted to snuggle with Grandpa to get warm!

After Dillon's beach we headed into San Francisco to eat dinner and see the sea lions at Pier 39.  Jen packed the kids each a pair of pants and a light jacket all for just the trip into San Francisco.  Even with the long pants and jacket they kept complaining they were cold.  Dustin did a good job of cheering Logan up - making funny faces and taking pictures of it!

The perched Sea Lions...

We always eat at the same seafood restaurant at the Pier...

Yummy!!

After all this - it was time for the two hour drive back to Jen's parents house.  Quite the action packed day in Northern California!
