Tonight we took an adult/child/infant CPR class and basic first aid. Both Dustin and I have been certified at some point in our lives, but was ~10+ years ago. We wanted a “refresher” especially on the infant stuff. One of Dustin’s co-workers organized a class at his house; there were ~10 of us there (5 couples). Three of the couples recently had a child (Zach was the oldest at 8 months), two of the couples were expecting their first child with in a month – so everyone wanted to take the class for the same reasons we did ;) Did you know:
- Compression to breath ratio in CPR is now 30:2. When we were both certified 10+ years ago it was 15:2.
- Compression/breath ratio 30:2 is the same for an adults, child and infant.
- Compression counting is FASTER now. We remember it being 1 and 2 and 3….now it is super fast 1,2,3,4,5,6….
We were glad for the re-certification. Now we feel a bit more confident to attack what ever events are thrown at us in our lives!
